Kitmat’s local RCMP Detachment has released yet another report detailing several incidents that happened in the area about three quarters or so of the way through March.
A part of the report dedicated a lot of space to talking about how a resident came into the Police Station saying that they had encountered someone that was attempting to defraud them.
The resident got a call from someone claiming to represent a financial institution and was asking for their personal information for a loan that had been approved.
But the loan documents ended up being reviewed later and it was determined that they had statements that weren’t professionally edited in addition to unreadable text.
The RCMP are once again using this kind of case to remind people to be wary of scammers.
