A renowned Haisla hereditary leader and carver has passed. Chief Hey Mus Jassee (Sammy Robinson) was a Hereditary Chief of the Haisla Nation and played a very active role in the community.
The Haisla Nation posted their condolences to Robinson’s family in a statement, saying Robinson was not only the highest-ranking chief in the community, but also an internationally acclaimed artist and master carver, whose creations brought immense pride to the Haisla people.
They said his legacy will forever reside in the hearts of the Haisla people.
Flags in Kitimat and at LNG Canada were lowered on the 11th to honor Robinson’s passing. On behalf of the district, Mayor Phil Germuth offered their condolences, saying Robinson has left a lasting and meaningful impact on the local communities.
