Smithers funding application gets rejected

The Town of Smithers recently made an application to the New Spaces Fund that is run by ChildCareBC in order to try and get funding, so that they could start building a 74 space childcare centre that would be located at Ranger Park.

But in a disappointing turn of events, Smithers was not selected to get funding from ChildCareBC, as their New Spaces Fund got more applications than their funds could cover in the 2024-25 application period, so some applicants were bound to get the short end of the stick.

Although, the New Spaces Fund is set to stay active for another 3 years or so and Smithers is said to be committed to giving further applications another shot when the next round of applicants are being accepted by ChildCareBC.
