In the somewhat near future, the Town of Smithers is set to conduct it’s annual water main flushing program over a span that will last about a month.
The program will begin on May 5th and run until June 6th, with the town’s water system getting a controlled amount of chlorine added to it about 2 or so weeks before the flushing starts.
Adding chlorine is not commonly done by Smithers so the taste and odour of it might be noticeable to some residents.
If residents notice any discoloured water during that time period, they are advised to run their taps until the water clears up again.
