A rap duo based out of Kitamaat Village recently made history at the yearly award show that recognizes the best that Canadian music has to offer in the 2025 edition of the Junos.

The Snotty Nose Rez Kids, a duo made up of Quinton “Yung Trybez” Nyce and Darren “Yung D” Metz, won the award for Best Rap Album of the year for their work on their most recent album, Red Future.

The historical value of this award win comes from the fact that they are the first ever Indigenous group to receive that particular award.

The duo also got the chance to perform live at the show itself in what was most likely another major honor for the pair as they celebrated a night that they probably won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
