Terrace RCMP Arrest Man for Pointing Firearm, Uttering Threats

On April 9, around 8:00 pm, Terrace RCMP SAY THEY received a report of a man who had pointed a firearm at another person and threated to kill them.

Police attended the address on the 5200 block of Halliwell Avenue to find the man had returned inside his home.

The man was the only person inside and would not cooperate with police call outs.

His behavior escalated and he was considered to be armed and barricaded. Terrace RCMP say they consulted with the Prince George Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Service to effect a safe arrest.

Terrace RCMP contained the residence until the ERT and PDS arrived to assist.

At approximately 3:30 am, April 10, the man was taken into custody after suffering a bite from the police dog service. He was arrested for uttering threats and pointing a firearm, and was taken to hospital to receive medical attention for his injury.

Police say they were were granted a search warrant for the residence and seized numerous firearms. The man was released from custody with a court date for a first appearance and several related conditions.

The investigation is ongoing and results will be submitted to BC Prosecution Services for consideration of charges.
